The government defines “fundamental British values” as

democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths.

  • Many of the above values are promoted throughout the day to day activities and interactions between all stakeholders in school. These values are also incorporated into our Behaviour Policy, School rewards systems, Our schools 4 core values as well as classroom and playground rules.

  • Whole school assemblies use the bible to teach children the morals and teachings of God , many of which can be linked to the British values above.

  • All of our children are encouraged to be themselves and to have pride in the things they can do and the person they are. As part of our Celebration Assembly held each week children are encouraged to bring in 'outside achievements' to share with the school these include things like sports trophies or certificates, artwork, scouts/cubs/brownies/guides, theatre groups etc.

  • As part of our school council, elections are held every January. Children are encouraged to write a small speech which they deliver to their classmates and then a vote is held. Each school council member holds office for the next year with one member per year group.
